The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) has announced with profound sorrow the death of Prof. Emeritus Daniel Mireku-Gyimah, the institution’s Foundation Vice-Chancellor and celebrated as the first Mining Professor in West Africa.A Distinguished Legacy
Prof. Mireku-Gyimah was not only a pioneering academic but also a visionary leader whose contributions shaped the establishment and growth of UMaT. He played a critical role in positioning the University as a hub for mining education and research in Ghana and across Africa. His pioneering work in mining engineering earned him recognition as a cornerstone in advancing mining education and practice, while his leadership laid the foundation for UMaT’s current global reputation.Tributes and Condolences
