UEW Appoints Associate Prof. Dominic Kwaku Danso Mensah as Principal of College of Languages Education, Ajumako

Prof. Dominic Kwaku Danso Mensah is an Educationist from the University of East Anglia in the UK.

Until his appointment as Principal, he has been the Director of the Institute of Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development at the University of Education, Winneba(UEW)nurturing the activities of 15 Colleges of Education affiliated to UEW, managing the implementation of the new B.EdCurriculum and UEWStudentInternshipProgramme.


Prof. Danso Mensah attended Chirapatere RC Primary and Kumasi High Schools where he obtained his Basic Education, GCEOrdinary and Advanced levels respectively.

He proceeded to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) where he graduated with Honours Degree in Psychology and a Diploma in French in 1994.


After teaching French for five years both at the Basic and secondary levels at Pentecost Preparatory School and Sekondi College, he obtained an M. Phil Degree in Basic Education also at UCC.


He later gained admission to University of East Anglia to read hisPh.D in Education with a speciality in Educational Administration and Management in 2007.


In 2009, Prof. Dominic Kwaku Danso Mensah returned to Ghana to take an appointment with the University of Education Winneba, specifically,in the Department of Basic Education.


At UEW, he has held many positions. These include Postgraduate Coordinator in the Department of Basic Education; Postgraduate Coordinator in the Department of Educational Administration and Management; Head of Department of Educational Administration and Management, Vice-Dean of Student Affairs and acted as a Dean of Student Affairs.


He has also served on a number of University-wide Boards and Committees such as Academic Board, Graduate Board, Academic Planning Committee, Scholarship and Conferences Committee, Joint AdmissionsBoard, Faculty of Educational Studies Board, Professional Board (ITECPD) and Chairman of Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Committee. Prof. Dominic Kwaku Danso Mensah was nominated by the Vice-Chancellor to contest the position of Pro-Vice-Chancellor iMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM       NNNNNNn 2019.

By dint of his hard work, Prof. Danso Mensahhas had the honour of being appointed by the President of the Republic of Ghana to serve as Council Chairman of Fosu College of Education.


He also serves on OLA College of Education Council as the National Representative of the National Council for Tertiary Education(NCTE).


In addition, he is a member of the National Accreditation Board (NAB) as well as the National Implementation Support Team (NIST)overseeing the effective execution of the new 4-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme across all Colleges, and the smooth affiliation of the forty-six (46) Colleges of Education (CoEs) to five selected public universities in Ghana.


Prof. Danso Mensahhas authored and co-authored over forty (40) scholarly works in international and local peer-reviewed journals and contributed to knowledge in his area of specialization. He is married with six (6) wonderful children
