UCC to Represent Ghana in Pan-Africa University Debate Championship

The 22nd edition of the competition will be held for the first time in Ghana at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology from the 8th to 16th of December, 2019.

UCC is set to present three teams and three judges for the competition.

Team UCC will be led by current champion and the president of the UCC Debate Society Mr Samuel Kojo Pinkrah.

In an exclusive interview with choicism.com, Mr Pinkrah mentioned that, management of the UCC and the UCC-SRC have made some provisions for the team in their preparation towards the competition.

He added that, the team will do everything possible to bring the trophy home “As national champions, we hold the pride of honouring the nation. The University of Cape Coast management and the SRC have invested a lot into us and we will bring the trophy home,” he said.

He further stated that, the team is currently undergoing intensive training with their international trainer.

“We are doing all things humanly possible to win this trophy, our mentality is highly positive and we are ready. A horse is made ready for a battle but victory is from the Lord!”

The 2019 edition of the competition under the theme; “Promoting the new African Narrative”  has been named after an Adinkra symbol, AKOFENA which represents courage, valour and heroism with regard to historical roots, geographical location and social reality among others.

136 Universities from across Africa will be in Ghana for this year’s edition of the debate championship.

The 2018 edition of the competition which was held in Tanzania was won by Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
