The leadership of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-Ghana) in the Upper East Region has asked their members in the Upper East Region to remain calm as all their concerns about the TM 1 laptop and its specifications, amount being deducted and source of the deductions are being addressed and will be communicated in due course.
The Regional Chairman of CCT-Ghana in the Upper East Region Richard Yinbil speaking to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East explained that his office had received several complaints about the One Teacher One Laptop initiative and was working to address them.

He said looking at the disruption the COVID-19 pandemic had on the academic calendar, it was prudent to find more technologically advanced alternatives to teaching and learning activities; thus the introduction of the laptops. He admitted that the lack of information flow from national leadership to membership caused the ensuing problems.
“I think misinformation and not understanding ourselves have caused all these things. Our teachers are not happy with leadership and we need to apologise to them. We came in with a good intention but finally, it has come out that it is not how people were thinking,” he said.

Mr Yinbil, touching on the deductions being made, explained that he had to meet the national leadership of the group in the national capital to gain a better understanding of the matters himself.
He stated that while part of the 70 per cent cost supposed to be borne by the government was deducted from the teachers’ pension fund, information circulating that the entire 70 per cent was deducted from the fund was false and should be disregarded.
He impressed on Government to supply the laptops to the teachers before the close of the year as monies have already been deducted from the salaries of teachers for same.
