Accra, Ghana. The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially communicated the full implementation of fees and charges for teaching licenses, which will take effect from the year 2023.
In a letter addressed to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) on September 26, 2023, the NTC informed all teachers across the country about this significant development.
According to the NTC, this decision is in accordance with a directive issued by the Parliament of Ghana, underscoring the importance of standardizing the licensing process for educators in the nation.
Here is a breakdown of the fees and charges for teaching licenses as per the NTC’s announcement:
- Licence Cards: The issuance of teaching license cards will now require a fee of GH¢ 200.
- Renewal of License: Teachers seeking to renew their teaching licenses will be required to pay a fee of GH¢ 100.
- Registration: The fee for initial registration with the NTC has been set at GH¢ 50.
This announcement comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the NTC to enhance the quality and professionalism of teaching in Ghana by ensuring that educators meet the required standards and qualifications.
The letter informing the Ghana Education Service about these changes was authored by the Registrar of the NTC, Dr. Christian Addai Poku. This move is expected to streamline the licensing process, making it more accessible to teachers while contributing to the development of the education sector in Ghana.
Teachers are advised to take note of these new fees and charges and make the necessary arrangements to comply with the requirements for licensing and renewal, as outlined by the NTC.
This development underscores the commitment of the NTC and the Ghanaian government to elevate the quality of education in the country and ensure that educators are adequately qualified and certified.
