Ferdinand | EducationGhana | February 20 | Revised 2023 Academic Calendar for Public Single Track SHS in Ghana
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released a revised academic calendar for Public Single Track Senior High Schools in Ghana for the 2023 academic year calendar.
According to the official calendar released by the GES, the 1st semester of the academic year began for forms 2 & 3 on January 10.
The form 1 student will, however, report to school to begin their 1st-semester session on February 20. But a statement issued by the GES on February 17 indicated that the form 1 students are to report to school officials on February 27, 2023, after going to their respective schools from February 20 to 24, 2023 for collection of the prospectus.
However, all these 3 forms will vacate the same day. Thus, on April 5.
These students will spend 10 days at home as their vacation period as school goes down for the 1st semester on April 6.
April 17 has been noted as the 2nd-semester reopening date for all forms 1, 2 and 3s.
Although this stream of students will return to school the same day to commence activities for this semester, their vacation dates vary.
June 2 will see all form 3s go on break and return to school on June 9 whiles form 2s and 1s will vacate on August 25 and September 15 respectively.
The Form 3 students after returning to school on June 9 will be in school until September 15 when they will be done writing the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination for all Senior High Schools in Ghana

It is worth noting that in this newly revised academic calendar for Single track schools in the country, Form 1s will spend 1,120 contact hours in school, whiles Form 2 and 3s will spend 1,280 and 1,360 contact hours respectively.
