The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) has urged its member institutions to embed at least GH¢50.00 into the school fees of students for the 2023 Academic Year.

The council in a letter to its member schools indicated, that the need to increase the fees was in line with directives to prevent task forces from invading their schools for the implementation of the Child Education Support Policy (CESP).

According to the letter, the National Issuance Commission (NIC) has begun implementing the Compulsory Issuance Policy on Commercial Buildings, including both completed and those under construction.

GNACOPS indicated, that owners of private commercial buildings including private schools needed to obtain Compulsory Fire Insurance over such properties as per sections 218 and 219 of the Insurance Act 2021, (Act 1061).

The Council further explained, that under the law, every commercial building shall be insured against hazards of collapse, fire, earthquake, flood, and storms, as well as legal liabilities of the owner or occupier of premises, in respect of loss of or damage to property bodily injury or death suffered by any user of the properties or third parties.
