Pre-Tertiary Teacher Unions have given the Ghana Education Service (GES) a 24-hour ultimatum to Provide all Schools with Personal Protection Equipments (PPEs) or they advise themselves.
The Unions in a statement issued on Thursday, June 2, 2020, indicated that the inability of the GES to provide all schools with PPEs was against the Memorandum of Understanding between the Jubilee House, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service on one hand and the Pre-Tertiary Education Unions on the other hand, as well as Public Services Commission in a letter dated March 23, 2020, which considers the health of the teachers as well as the students at larger in the midst of preventing the spread of the COVID-19.
The Unions said they have given the GES up to the close of the day, Friday, July 3, 2020, to ensure that all school environments were secured including the provision od PPEs for effective teaching and learning.
The Unio0ns added, that the GES must be very articulate in their response since some of the Pre-Tertiary Educational Institutions were centres for the ongoing voter registration exercise being organized by the Electoral Commission.

This the Unions said was increasing the risk of COVID-19 in the school environment since hundreds of p[eople troop into the centres without adherence to the COVID-19 protocols.
The Unions reminded the GES not to undermine the MoU between both parties hence a quick decision should be taken to uphold an industrial harmony.
