Photos : The Only Town in Ghana where Littering is a Taboo

Despite the worsening sanitation challenges in Ghana and the dying nature of communal spirit among Ghanaians,

the chief of Assin Kushea, Ehunabobrim Otikokooso Pra Agyensem VI, and his cabinet members have defy the odds, to ensure strict compliance of sanitation laws to keep the farming Community clean.

In Assin Kushea, it’s an abomination to litter on the principal streets of the community, not even in your own house.

Failure to comply attract sanctions which include fine and other punishment prescribed by cabinet members of the Owirenkyiman traditional council.

Nana Pra Agyensem, has, personally, procured several numbers of waste bins, branded in Ghanaian national colors, available throughout the principal streets of the community to ensure strict compliance of the sanitation laws.

Between every 10 feets, there is a waste bin to ensure that littering is discouraged completely.

Residents of Assin Kushea, including school children who spoke to Adom News, explained that, the proactive sanitation enforcement mesures put in place by their chief, is making it unattractive to litter.

Meanwhile, Nana Kwame Acheampong, a cabinet member of Owirenkyiman traditional council, explained how the council is poised to make Assin Kushea, the cleanest Community in Africa.

The Assemblyman of Assin Kushea Electoral area, Adamu Frimpong, eulogized the residents for their enthusiastic communal spirit which has gained recognition on Adom TV.

Speaking to Adom News on the subject, the Assin North DCE, Charlse Ohene Andor, pleaded on all Communities to emulate the people of Assin Kushea to ensure strict compliance of sanitation laws to keep Ghana clean.
