Police say they have arrested one person in connection to the recent armed attack on a student of the University of Ghana on campus.
This was disclosed by the Head of Operations of the Greater Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Kwesi Ofosu.
He made this known at the meeting with University of Ghana Management over an armed attack on one Daniel Osei, a level 400 Psychology student at the Accra City Campus of the University.
ACP Kwesi Ofosu stated that the suspect was being interrogated for further details into the matter.
He assured the University authorities of the Police Service’s commitment to ensure that the campus was safe for students
“We have a suspect in custody and we will be working on him and therefore the Accra Regional Police Command will like to assure you that, we are here for you and we will provide the best of service so seeing us on campus is a friendly approach to deal with the issues at hand”.
Daniel Osei was yesterday Sunday attacked by persons suspected to be armed along the road leading from Pentagon to the Evandy hostel which is situated on the campus of the University of Ghana.
He was butchered mercilessly and sustained several cutlass wounds on his head.
A delegation, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu has already visited him at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, where he is receiving treatment.
The attack on Daniel Osei has gained national attention over the safety of students at the nation’s premier university.
Some students of the University of Ghana have also begun a campaign on the internet to get the University management’s attention to provide them with better security.
