The campus of Presbyterian Women College of Education (PWCE) in Aburi was thrown into a state of sobriety as students got wrapped in tears of joy when the Eastern Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) donated an amount of Ghc20,000.00 to a student who has been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The Eatern Reginal NPP, under the leadership of Hon. Kiston Akomemg Kissi, the part’s chairman, made the donation on Monday.
Ms Amoako Sarah Boateng, a 22-years-old student of PWCE, lost her left eye in October 2018 with the right eye increasingly getting blurrier.
Upon a series of medical examinations, Sarah was diagnosed later in April 2019 with severe brain tumour believed to have been lingering for several years.
Her deteriorating medical condition has brought her menstrual cycle to a halt for about six years, amidst persistent acute headaches and general body weakness making her unable to stand on her feet for very long.
Ms Sarah, an intelligent young lady with a flaming passion to become an astute Teacher in future is sitting on a time bomb as her family struggles to raise an amount of $15,000.00, within one month, in order to fly her to India for surgery and other treatments.
The intervention of the Eastern Regional Executives of the NPP was something Sarah and her family have been fervently praying about for some time now.
Speaking to the assembly of students and management of the school, the Eastern Regional Secretary of the NPP, Hon. Jeff Konadu Addo stated that the party in the region was shaken by the medical threat facing a rather intelligent young lady, hence the resolved of the Regional Executives to, on their own, contribute the aforementioned sums of money to help in the treatment of Ms Sarah. He further assured Sarah and her family of the party’s efforts to raise additional funds to enable her to go through the treatment within the limited time she has.
On her part, the Principal of PWCE, Dr Harriet Naki Amui commended the Regional Executives for their swift intervention stating that this major contribution will open the flood gates for more of such donations.
The party’s delegation to the school included Hon. Jeff Konadu Addo (E/R Secretary), Jerry Osei-Poku (E/R Youth Organizer), Ben Kumi Larbi (E/R Treasurer), Hajia Fati Vondoli (E/R Women Organizer), Adamu Musa Raha (Dept. E/R NASARA Coordinator) and Charles Opoku (E/R TESCON Coordinator).
The NPP in the Akuapem South Constituency was also represented by the Constituency Executives.
