A non-governmental organisation, Mawuvio Outreach Programme (MOP), is providing 200 under privileged children at Ayikumah and its environs in the Greater Accra region with free education and skills training.
The beneficiaries, who are mostly orphaned and disadvantaged children, have been receiving free boarding education from kindergarten to Junior High School.
MOP, which has a Ghana Education Service accreditation to operate a government approved school.
Aside the free education, each of the beneficiaries is being provided free food, uniforms, shoes and educational materials as well as employable skills training.
Eight of the beneficiaries who wrote this year’ Basic Education Certificate Examination have graduated with employable skills.
They were given training in soap and traditional jewellery making and cooking. They received certificate and citations.
The idea of equipping them with employable skills, according to officials of MOP, is to ensure that their beneficiaries leave the school with entrepreneurial skills to enable them start their own businesses and also sustain their families.
Beneficiaries of the MOP programme are from straitened backgrounds, who are on the verge of exploitation and would not have had the opportunity to be given quality education and skill training.

Five of the beneficiaries presented for the 2018 BECE passed with distinction and are currently at Krobo Girls Senior High School and Ghanata Senior High School.
In 2012 and 2013 the student population was 60 with three local teachers. In 2014 MOP moved 90% of the student body into their permanent boarding school where the number grew to 99%.

Current enrolment of the school stands at 200.
The school is currently being sustained with donor funding.
Co-founders of MOP, Eric Kwame Ago and Renee Farwell, have urged the students to pursue their goals and be productive to their community and the nation.
