Education is one of the most important investments a country can make in its future.

Providing equitable and quality education for all students is at the interest of all.

It is education and enlightenment that lift a nation to the heights of progress and greatness.

The education minister, Hon Yaw Adutwum in his recent interview with Dzifa Gheho- Bampoh brought to the fore the need to have photos of the President and the Minister in charge of education fixed in offices of headmasters across Ghana.

He did indicate he was going to see its implementation.

His comment is coming at the time there are many serious challenges with issues of education in the country and as the sector minister, it is expected that he focuses on the key issues pertaining to teaching and learning before bringing up other initiatives worth implementing since there will be cost element in everything to be done.

Education is exceedingly instrumental to the realization of one’s innate self, strength, natural fitness and factual being. Education is so necessary and essential that its insufficiency or absence may lead one to choose an improper path of life.

The new curriculum as implemented in 2019, as part of the learning experiences necessary to equip school pupils and students for higher education and the world of work was a good step taken.

The entire nation is expectant of moves to be initiated by the current education minister as a matter of necessity in the release of textbooks based on the new curriculum for teachers to use to teach school pupils at the KG and Primary levels. They are the future generations of this country.

The delay in releasing the textbooks is seriously affecting academic activities in the various schools across the country.

We started this implementation in 2019 and we are in 2021 now. And teachers are using only the training manual that was given to them at the training workshop to teach.

Education changes our lives. Many persons from poor family became successful in life because of education.

We have become progressive and successful as a country because of education. So, it is important as stakeholders we sit back and reflect on ways toward making education better because the ugly happenings within the education sector is exceedingly getting worrisome.

The education minister should humbly drop the portrait idea for now and focus on the release of textbooks to schools in order to aid teaching and learning.
