National Teaching Council to Launch 2020 Ghana Teacher Prize on August 26

The Management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) has announced to outdoor the 2020 edition of the Ghana Teacher prize on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at exactly 10 am prompt at the GNAT, Bediako Hall, Accra.

The Council’s announcement follows President Akufo-Addo’s ease in restrictions on the numbers of the persons who can attend award events but subject to maintenance of physical distancing, fresh air ventilation of premises, and a two-hour limit.

The National Teaching Council (NTC) said the Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoke Prempeh is the Guest of honour for the 2020 edition of the Ghana Teacher Prize to reward high performing teachers in the country.

The theme for this year’s Ghana Teacher Prize is “Teacher leadership in developing crisis education response”.

According to the National Teaching Council (NTC), the event is strictly by invitation.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo in his first televised nation’s address directed for the closure of all schools across the country as part of precautionary measures to slow and curb the novel coronavirus disease.

Prospective students except for final year students have been home for about 5 months now as a temporal school break as Ghana’s Health Service (GHS) fight against the global pandemic to restore the situation to normalcy.

Speaking in his 14th televised address to the nation, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that the government is in engagements with stakeholders in the educations sectors on conditions for reopening of schools after the current examinations are concluded in mid-September, 2020.
