KNUST Partners Aurelia Holding AG Germany for KNUST Centre for Capacity Development in Automobile and Manufacturing

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has entered into a partnership agreement with Aurelia Holding AG Germany, to start a project dubbed ‘KNUST Centre for Capacity Development in Automobile and Manufacturing’ (CECADAM).

The project concept, bilaterally developed by teams from KNUST and Aurelia Holding AG Germany, embraces almost all aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with strong emphasis on SDG 17 – Partnership for Development.

For this purpose, the Suame Municipality, noted as an epicentre for metal engineering, automobile repairs and innovative artisanal solutions in Ghana has been incorporated as one of the key areas of the project to among others, train the traditional mechanics to obtain contemporary skills to deal with the technological advancements within the manufacturing and automobile industry.

The CECADAM project falls in line with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision of ‘One-Department-One-Start-Up (1D-1S)’, and the Government of Ghana’s, ‘One- District-One-Factory (1D-1F)’ policies respectively and seeks to leverage strong Academia-Industry partnerships to develop communities and society.
