KNUST Admission of Candidates to Research or Higher Degree Programmes for 2019/2020 Academic Year (EIST)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission to research and higher degree programmes (MA/MSc/MPHIL)

MSC/MPHIL CREATIVE ART THERAPY

The MSc/MPhil Creative Arts Therapy programme intends to train students in the use of psychological theories and the creative arts as a way to help reduce the stress associated with the different groupings of the populace;

ie, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics as well as people with special needs; to enhance their mental, social and physical health.

Duration: MSc-12 months; MPhil-2 years

Admission Requirements

  • An applicant shall hold a First-Class Honours or Second-Class Upper degree in the Visual Arts, Art Education, Education, Architecture, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Psychology or the Medical field from a recognised university.

 

  • Previous work experience in a clinical, rehabilitative or educational setting (i.e. teaching experience) is an advantage.

 

  • MPhil applicants must show strong research backgrounds. They must submit a research proposal of about 5000 words as part of their admission requirement and attend and pass a written or oral interview determined by the Departmental Board.

MPHIL ART EDUCATION (One-Year Top-Up for MA Art Education Holders)

Applicants:

  • Must possess an MA Art Education or a related Discipline from KNUST or a recognised institution;
  • Without the two-year MA Art Education from KNUST must pass a selection interview

 

  • Must present a detailed proposal of their intended research; and
  • Must submit an academic transcript for verification by the Departmental Board.

MPHIL. AFRICAN ART AND CULTURE (One-Year Top-Up for MA African Art and Culture Holders)

Applicants:

  • Must have an MA African Art or a related Discipline from KNUST or a recognised institution;
  • Must present a detailed proposal of their intended research; and
  • Must provide an academic transcript for verification by the departmental board.

MODE OF APPLICATION

Sale of E-Vouchers/Forms for admission shall commence on Tuesday, 30th April, 2019.

  • Candidates must purchase an eVoucher for programmes by paying an application fee of Two Hundred and Forty Ghana Cedis (GH¢240.00) at the following banks: GCB, Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) or Ecobank.

 

  • Upon payment of the application fee, candidates will receive an eVoucher containing an application number and PIN that will grant access to the online admissions portal.
  • Candidates should then proceed to online admissions website:
  • https://apps.knust.edu.gh/admissions/ and begin the application process.
  • Once the process has been completed, candidates MUST PRINT OUT 2 COPIES of the completed application form from the portal and submit them (by post) to the School of Graduate Studies together with all relevant documents (Photocopies of Certificates, Recommendation Letters, and [Transcript for those attending KNUST for the first time]) to the following address:

Deadline for the submission of application forms is Wednesday, 31st July, 2019.

Application forms submitted after the deadline will not be processed.

Only candidates who successfully gain admission will be notified subsequently.

NB:  All International Applicants must apply online. International applicants who are admitted will be required to pay an application fee of USD 200.00 before registration.
