The Volta Region is alive with jubilant energy as Keta Senior High School (KETASCO) claims a place in the finals of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), outshining rivals Tamale SHS (TAMASCO) and Koforidua SHTS in a dramatic showdown. The semi-final contest, held at the SGS auditorium on the morning of October 27, saw an electrifying clash of wits and teamwork that had the packed audience captivated from start to finish.
From the onset, KETASCO left no room for doubt. Determined to reclaim glory after narrowly missing the 2022 finals win to Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, they stormed into the first round, establishing a lead with 19 points, while Tamale SHS and Koforidua SHTS trailed with 14 and 9 points, respectively.
The second round witnessed a surprising twist as Koforidua SHTS fought their way to the lead with 17 points, briefly unsettling KETASCO supporters. But true to their resilience, KETASCO fought back in the third and fourth rounds, pulling ahead with a phenomenal 29 points, while Koforidua SHTS maintained a close 27 points. Tamale SHS struggled to close the gap, remaining at 21 points.
KETASCO’s final push was unstoppable, sealing their victory with a powerful 38 points, securing their spot in the finals and sending a clear message to all contenders: KETASCO is ready for the ultimate prize. Koforidua SHTS concluded with 27 points, while Tamale SHS ended with 24.
