JUST IN:Teachers’ Licence to be valid for 3 Years;Articles,Awards,In-Service Training to be Considered during Renewal

Teachers’ License when issued to individual teachers, shall be valid for three years after which the individual teacher shall be obliged to renew it.

According to NTC, the license shall be valid for three years upon which it will be renewed based on the portfolios individual teachers have built for themselves.

Activities such as In-service Trainings, relevant researches towards the improvement of Education, writing and publishing articles that are relevant to Education, winning of awards being it district, regional or national best teacher awards amongst others.

The National Teaching Council (NTC) together with the National Service Scheme on Wednesday, 17th April, 2019 held a capacity building seminar for newly trained teachers.

The seminar was on  how newly trained teachers who are undergoing the one national service will undergo the induction period which will pave way for the awarding of full teaching license.

Provisional License

The Operations Director of the National Teaching Council indicated  that,  provisional license would be sent to newly trained teachers based on the information they provided on the attendance sheet made available to them at the seminar.

An indication,that the License shall be sent through the various district or regional education offices for collection.

Induction Period

According to the National Teaching Council, the national service period shall be the same period the induction will take place.

The induction period shall be characterized by points acquisition. These points shall be cumulative through out the service period.

To acquire points, all personnels undergoing the induction are required to undertake capacity building activities which includes School Based In-service Training, Cluster Based In-service Training, Departmental Based In-service Training.

Each In-service Training shall gain the newly qualified teacher a point , it is thefore required of every newly qualified teacher to turn up for the trainings when they are scheduled.

Postings

According to NTC, they shall be responsible for advising GES on who to employ after the license regime is fully actualised.
