JUST IN: UCC extends Revision Period for Level 200 College of Education Students after agitations

The University of Cape Coast Institute 0f Education has extended the revision period for level 200 College of Education Students across the country after students agitations.

The students, who are expected to return to their various campuses to sit for their end of academic semester examination have been given an additional one week to prepare.

Earlier, the Level 200 Trainees at the Public Colleges of Education called on the University of Education (UCC) to extend their  Revision and Examination dates for them to be able to prepare adequately for the exams.

Speaki8ng to EducationGhana, the Trainees said Colleges of education were supposed to return to campus on 16th March 2020 for the commencement of their second semester of 2019/2020 academic year.

”Unfortunately, during the president’s state of the nation address on Sunday 15th March 2020 evening, he announced that schools should be closed down until further notice.
This actually hit us hard since we were just about to go back to campus.” The Trainees said.

PrinCoF,UCC Settle issues

A broad consultation with relevant stakeholders. including the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast (UCC), and Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) led to an amicable resolution for an extension of the revision date.

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) in a statement issued on Thursday, August 27, 2020, confirm the outcome of the meeting, and has also admonished all teacher trainees to remain calm and desist from speaking to a journalist since the concerns raised (e.g feeding grant) was already before the appropriate stakeholders for an amicable resolution.
