JUST IN: Put Congregation Ceremonies of 2019 Trained Teachers on hold – UCC to Principals

Contrary to reports in the Colleges of Education Weekly Journal a few weeks ago that Congregation ceremonies for 2019 graduating class were likely to be held in June/July 2020, the Director of the Institute of Education – University of Cape Coast has issued a directive to all Principals of Colleges of Education not to hold congregation ceremonies for students who completed their studies in August 2019.

Graduation ceremonies in Colleges of Education are meant to confer Diploma on graduands of a College with some funfair.

Per the academic calendar for most Colleges of Education, graduation ceremonies are usually held between April and July annually

. However, that seems not to be the case this year due to the emergence of the novel Coronavirus.

Some Colleges of Education held their graduation ceremonies earlier before the emergence of COVID – 19 in the country which led to the shutdown of educational institutions.

The directive issued to the Principals further added that;

“due to the COVID – 19 pandemic, the Colleges of Education would not be able to hold Congregation ceremonies for the conferment of Diploma in Basic Education on students who completed their studies in August 2019. As a result, approval has been given to the Institute of Education and the Colleges of Education by the Management of the University of Cape Coast for the distribution of the Diploma in Basic Education Certificates to students who fulfilled all requirements for the award of the certificates.
