The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said that teachers going for Further studies should pursue courses that are relevant to the profession before they can be upgraded.
The GES said this at a meeting with the National Leadership of the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (COHBS) held at its Headquarters prior to the October 5, 2020 reopening of Schools for form 2 JHS and SHS students.

According to the GES, it was prudent for teachers to pursue courses that would have an impact on their works as teachers than offer courses that are unrelated to their teaching profession.
The GES urged teachers to be circumspect in their decisions regarding the kind of courses the pursue since that could affect their chances of being upgraded using the certificates they may have acquired through the courses.

Common Core Program (CCP)
The GES indicated, that it has begun plans towards the Training of JHS Teachers on the New Curriculum for JHS to SHS known as Common Core Program (CCP) and will be done before schools resume fully.
Promotions
Speaking on Promotion of Teachers to the various ranks in the Ghana Education Service, the GES said it shall soon release the advert for promotion to the various ranks and promotion exams shall be conducted before the end 2020.
