JUST IN: Akuffo Addo announces resumption date for Final Year Tertiary Students

President Akuffo Addo has announced resumption dates for Final year students in the various tertiary institutions in the country.

The President made this revelation on Sunday, May 31, 2020, during his tenth state address on the update of events concerning  COVID-19 pandemic.

University Students

According to the president, final year university students are to report to their universities on 15th June 2020 to continue with their Academic works including examinations.

He added, that University lectures will take place with half the class size in respect of the COVID-19 social distancing protocols.

Training Institutions

The president further indicated, that all final year students of educational and training institutions, which are being managed by Ministries other than the Education Ministry, are to return to school on 15th June to complete their exit examinations.

Fumigation of schools

In his address, Akuffo Addo said, Prior to the opening of schools and universities, the Ministry of Education, and the heads of public and private educational institutions, will
fumigate and disinfect their institutions.

Provision of PPEs

President Akuffo Addo added that each student, teacher, and non-teaching staff will be provided with re-usable face masks by the Ministry of Education.

Other Students

”For the avoidance of doubt, all other educational facilities, private
and public, for non-final year students, will remain closed.”

”The Minister for Education, in the coming days, will outline, in detail, the specific guidelines
for the safe reopening of our schools and universities.” He said.

Current COVID-19 Case in Ghana

Ghana has recorded 8,070 cases of the Novel Coronavirus.

The recoveries have also increased to 2,947.

This was announced by the president during his live televised address to the nation on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

Per the new figures, 189 new cases have been recorded since the last update and 106 persons have also recovered from the disease.
