JUST IN: $719,250 contract signed to support Student Teachers in Virtual Learning

Information gathered by the News Desk of the Colleges of Education Weekly Journal indicates that on Tuesday, 9th June 2020, Mott MacDonald Limited signed a contract with the MasterCard Foundation to the value of $719,250.00 to enable the Transforming Teacher Education and Learning (T-TEL) to work in partnership with the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) to ensure that as many student teachers as possible can benefit from virtual learning being conducted by Colleges of Education.

Checks by the News Desk also indicate that in the week ending of Saturday, 6th June 2020, a total of 1,694 virtual lessons were organized by tutors in all 46 public Colleges of Education, an eight percentage-point increase from the week ending 30th May 2020.

This represents 90% of all scheduled lessons in the Colleges of Education timetables.

The overall student-teacher attendance rate across the 46 public Colleges of Education was 84%, a nine percentage-point increase compared to the previous week.

The overall attendance rate was 83% for core courses and 85% for elective courses. These are the highest attendance rates achieved so far this Semester.

22 Colleges of Education achieved overall student-teacher attendance rates of 90% or higher:  Accra College of Education – 99%, Ada College of Education – 100%, Akatsi College of Education – 100%, Bagabaga College of Education – 99%, Bimbilla College of Education – 95%, Amedzofe College of Education – 95%, Gambaga College of Education – 92%,
