How to Appeal SHS Placement in Ghana (2025)

Missed your preferred school in the 2025 SHS placement? Learn step-by-step how to file an appeal through the CSSPS portal, appeal desk, or regional GES office with verified guidelines.

📌 Who Can Appeal SHS Placement?

Appeals are available for:

  • Students not placed at all
  • Students wrongfully placed
  • Students with medical, relocation, or special needs
  • Students whose school of choice is no longer viable due to errors or closure

🧭 Step-by-Step Guide to Appeal SHS Placement in 2025

1. Check Your Placement First

Visit https://cssps.gov.gh

  • Enter your Index Number and the year of exam (e.g., 2025)
  • Input your eVoucher code
  • Review your placement or “Not Placed” status

👉 If “Not Placed”, proceed to Self-Placement OR Appeal Desk

2. Use the Self-Placement Portal (If eligible)

  • Select from available schools based on your aggregate and program
  • Choose your preferred residency (day/boarding) and program
  • Confirm and print your new placement

🔔 Note: You cannot change self-placement once submitted—choose wisely.

3. Visit a National or Regional Placement Appeals Centre

If your case requires human review, visit an official:

  • CSSPS Resolution Centre (Accra: GNAT Hall, Adabraka)
  • GES Regional/District Education Office

📋 Bring these documents:

  • BECE results slip
  • Original school selection form
  • Placement slip (if any)
  • Medical or supporting documents (for special cases)
  • Parent/guardian national ID

4. Submit Your Appeal Letter (if required)

In some cases, you may be asked to write an official appeal letter stating:

  • BECE Index Number and full name
  • Reason for the appeal (medical, errors, etc.)
  • Your desired school and program

✍️ Include evidence like medical reports, school form errors, or relocation letters.

5. Track Your Status

Return within 48-72 hours to the appeal centre or check your status online.

🧠 Tips to Avoid Placement Issues

  • Use accurate data during JHS registration
  • Confirm school choices with proper documentation
  • Keep backup copies of all forms and receipts
  • Apply early for medical or special need exemptions

🔄 Common Reasons for Appeal Rejection

❌ Incomplete documentation
❌ Non-merit-based appeal (e.g., just personal preference)
❌ Failure to follow GES deadlines or appeal format
