GNAT engaging government on the payment of deprived areas allowances for teachers

EducationGhana| January 12| GNAT: The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has said that it is in talks with the government for the payment of allowances to teachers in deprived, remote, underserved or difficult areas.

The union at its 6th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference held on the 2nd-7th January 2022 made this revelation as part of conference resolutions held at the KNUST Great Hall, Kumasi.

”GNAT is engaging the Employer for deprived/remote/underserved/difficult areas allowance.” The GNAT said.

Correct Management Units

The GNAT further elaborated, that Teachers teaching in such areas should ensure that their management units are correct on their payslips

Responsibility Allowances

According to GNAT, In 2021, it ensured that responsibility allowances did not stop after teachers were placed on their new grades after promotions.
