GET INSPIRED: Bread Seller graduates with First Class at the University of Cape Coast

EducationGhana| December 25 | Nathan Addo: The University of Cape Coast, UCC has produced a very brilliant young man who passed through to realities of life to graduate with First Class Honours.

About Nathan

Named Nathan Addo Larbi, he graduated from the University of Cape Coast, UCC  on 16th December 2021 with First-Class Honours.

Describing his journey, Nathan described his academic journey at UCC as a herculean task for him to combine business with academics.

He added that he was able to endure to the fullest.

Bread Selling and Schooling

”Because of the financial crisis at home, I used to miss lectures and quizzes to hawk on the street to sell bread. I did the bread selling from level 200 to level 300.” He said.

Discouragement from Peers

Nathan indicated that the Majority of his mates made fun of him for carrying bread on his head for sale but he endured since he knew that’s the only option he had to support his parents at home.

”In fact, it wasn’t an easy task for me at all yet, I have been able to blend business with studies of which I have successfully graduated today as a first-class student of UCC.” He said.

His Business Venture

”I successfully established a maize trading company during level 400 first semester, which is known as “ Sankofa Maize Connect Enterprise (SMC) “, and recognized by the Register General Department.” He said.

”Currently, SMC is in equity partnership with Umoja Generation wealth which is based in the UK .” He said.

Advice to the Youth

Nathan admonishes the youth to forget the search for white-collar jobs which is unattainable and venture into entrepreneurship, which will make them self employed and provide antidotes to the ailing Ghanaian economy.

”Above all, they should never give up no matter the obstacles” He concluded.
