The Ghana Education Service (GES) has invited representatives of Teachers Unions for a meeting on Legacy arrears today.
This was revealed by the National President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonou on Citi Tv yesterday, April 29,2020.
GNAT Submits list if victims
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has submitted a list of some 45,512 victims of the Legacy Arrears for confirmation and payment.
The General Secretary of GNAT, Thomas T. Musah assured members of the Association in a memo.

According to the General Secretary, the national Secretariat has successfully completed the compilation of an electronic database on all GNAT members owed varied arrears totalling 45,512 across the Country.
CCT-GH submits List of victims
The Coalition of Concerned Teachers -Ghana (CCT-GH) has submitted a list of some 9,410 victims of the Legacy Arrears to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for confirmation and payment.
The President of the Union, King Ali Awudu made this known in a memo to all members of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers – Ghana.
According to the memo, the data was submitted to the Ghana Education Service (GES) on Thursday, February 27, 2020.

GES to publish legacy arrears beneficiaries in wake of teachers’ strike
The Ghana Education Service (GES) says it will not be stampeded into paying illegal money to teachers under the guise of legacy arrears.
According to the service, it had saved the government GH¢11.3 million after detecting some anomalies in the payment of the arrears and that there was the need to do more to verify the genuineness of the payments before the affected teachers were paid.
The Director-General of the GES, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, said it was unfortunate that with all the effort being made by the government, having paid 95 per cent of the affected staff, the teachers still insisted on embarking on the strike.
We’ll publish names
To prove its case, Prof. Opoku-Amankwa said, the GES would publish the list of its staff who benefited from the legacy arrears.
That, he said, was to clear the air and set the records straight about the government’s commitment to pay the debt.
