GES not mandated to employ University Graduates – Minister

EducationGhana, May 26, GES: The Minister of Education, Dr  Yaw Adutwum has said that it was not mandatory for the Ghana Education Service (GES) to employ graduates from the University into the public basic schools.

The Minister, who made this revelation on Peace FM, an Accra based radio station, was in response to agitations by Basic Education Graduates from the Universities to be employed by the GES.

 

He indicated that the GES employs University graduates when needed.

GES employs basic education graduates when needed. Thus when there is a vacancy because they didn’t attend a college of education. The service is not mandated to employ such graduates. However, the GES is seeking financial clearance to employ them”.He said.

The Minister however said the Ghana Education Service is seeking financial clearance to employ basic education graduates.
