Ghana Education Service (GES) halts all unapproved teacher transfers across districts, urging Regional Directors to reverse unauthorized moves and ensure protocol compliance.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued an urgent directive concerning the unauthorized transfer of teachers within various districts. According to Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, Deputy Director General for Quality and Assurance, on September 11, 2024 , GES management has discovered numerous teacher transfers made without the necessary approval or consultation with Regional Directors of Education.

This situation has raised concerns as these unapproved transfers are not only disrupting the educational process but also undermining the established protocols. These protocols ensure that transfers are conducted in the best interest of both the teachers involved and the students they serve.

In light of this, GES has instructed all Regional Directors of Education to ensure that their respective Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education reverse all unauthorized transfers immediately. Furthermore, the directive mandates a complete halt to any further unapproved transfers within the districts until official notice from GES management is provided.

The GES emphasizes that strict adherence to this directive is essential for maintaining order and ensuring that teacher movements do not negatively affect the quality of education. The service is counting on the usual cooperation of all education officials to comply with this directive for the benefit of Ghana’s educational system.
