🔎 Licensure Exam Visit: Minister Encourages Candidates, Reaffirms Resit Plan
The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to concluding the current phase of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) by August 30, 2025, as he visited the Accra High School examination centre today.
Addressing candidates, the Minister urged them to give their best, particularly first-time test takers, reassuring them of an opportunity to resit the exam if they do not pass.
🗨️ “No qualified trainee teacher will be left behind,” the Minister said. “The National Teaching Council (NTC) has been directed to provide an additional window for those who previously failed, to ensure fairness and smooth transition to a new integrated exam model.”
He emphasized that this resit window will pave the way for licensure assessments to be embedded into final-year exams of Colleges and Universities of Education from the next cohort onward.
🏫 Second Stop: GEOP Centre at Father Campbell’s Foundation
Later in the day, the Minister paid a working visit to the Father Campbell’s Foundation in Weija, a critical implementation site under the Ghana Education Outcomes Project (GEOP). The centre focuses on providing accelerated learning, life skills, and vocational training to street-connected and out-of-school youth.
Hon. Iddrisu interacted with learners and facilitators, applauding the remarkable transformation happening through GEOP.
🗨️ “We are grateful to Father Campbell for restoring dignity and purpose to these young Ghanaians. The Ministry is committed to expanding support for their apprenticeship and vocational integration, ensuring no learner is left behind,” he stated.
🌍 GEOP’s National Impact: Giving Hope to the Marginalized
The Ghana Education Outcomes Project (GEOP) is a results-based initiative designed to reintegrate out-of-school youth, equip them with foundational literacy and numeracy, and transition them into skills training or further education.
Supported by key partners such as the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES), and international funders, GEOP is changing the narrative for vulnerable youth across the country.
