The Acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service Eric Nkansah has finally been confirmed as Director General of GES.
He becomes the first banker to climb the “Professional” ladder in Academia to achieve such laurels since the establishment of the GES.

Teacher Unions and some members of the Academia disagreed with his appointment, saying it was against the professional standards but the Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum defended his appointment saying he will help solve issues pertaining to the welfare of teachers due to his knowledge in Finance.
The Unions went on strike but were returned to the classroom by the law Court.

Dr. Eric Nkansah’s appointment, though controversial has also become historic. Many earlier believed that President Akufo-Addo may not change him due to the Continous existence of the finance minister In office.
