Government Pushes Digital Transformation in Education

On Thursday, September 18, 2026, the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abass Apaak, launched the 3rd EdTech Stakeholder Forum on behalf of the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.   Speaking at the event, Dr. Apaak emphasized the government’s vision to make technology a central tool in education delivery, noting that while education has always provided equal opportunities for Ghanaians, the current era requires it to also drive innovation.   “Technology must be harnessed to close learning gaps, improve teaching, and prepare students for future opportunities,” he said.

Ongoing and New Digital Initiatives

The Deputy Minister highlighted key digital initiatives already rolled out by government to strengthen teaching and learning:   Mobile School Report Card (mSRC)   Differentiated Learning Plus Dashboard   Ghana Learning TV and Radio (introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic)     Earlier in 2026, government, working with partners, also developed a Draft National EdTech Strategy. The strategy focuses on:   Expanding digital connectivity in schools   Training teachers in digital skills   Promoting inclusive learning for all learners   Preparing schools to adopt emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Call for Stronger Collaboration

Dr. Apaak stressed that government alone cannot deliver this transformation. He called for stronger partnerships with:   The private sector   Innovators and entrepreneurs   Civil society organizations   Academia   Development partners     According to him, sustainable transformation will only be achieved if all stakeholders play their part in making technology-enabled learning accessible to every Ghanaian child.

A Vision for the Future

The Deputy Minister concluded by reaffirming the government’s resolve to position EdTech as a driver of equity, innovation, and opportunity within Ghana’s education sector.   He assured stakeholders that government will continue to create the enabling environment for digital learning to thrive, thereby preparing Ghanaian students for both national development and global competitiveness.
