EducationGhana, September 25, Colleges of Education: Public Colleges of Education are no longer likely to be converted into University Colleges as envisaged, a report by EducationGhana’s Ellis Ferdkinand suggests.
According to reports gathered by EducationGhana, a meeting between the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and the Principals from the Colleges of Education within the week has concluded, that the initial intention of a wholesale conversion of all Colleges of Education into University Colleges was no longer tenable.
The meeting clarified, that though not all Colleges of Education are likely to be converted into University Colleges, priority shall be given to some ancient colleges with infrastructural facilities that may be permitted to merge to form University Colleges.
The reports further indicated that the University Colleges may run other programmes aside from education to give room for other interest groups to be educated at the University Colleges.
