Chief donates 129 Computers To Basic Schools in Kumawu

Nine public schools within the Kumawu district of the Ashanti region have received 105 desktop computers and 24 laptops to improve teaching and learning in the district.

The computers donated by the Chief of Besoro, a community in the Kumawu district Nana Oteng Ofori Kwagyan Acheampong III was distributed among the various schools.

They include, Besoro D/A primary and junior high school, Besoro Methodist primary and JHS, Woraso D/A JHS, Woraso Presby JHS, Aninangya Methodist JHS, Nkwanta A M E Zion JHS, and Besoro R/C Prim.

Some schools received 10 computers plus 2 laptops, whiles others received 9 computers and 2 laptops.

Presenting the items, Nana Oteng Ofori Kwagyan Acheampong III, the new chief at Besoro says, education is a collective responsibility by parents and individuals who have children future at heart.

He noted that the donation is in line with government vision of providing better education to Ghanaian children in deprived communities.

The Chief said, the donation made possible with support from the Labdoo organization in Germany.

According to him, teaching and learning is receiving new method across the world of technology, hence the need to expose the students to technology and its usefulness in life.

“I will continually provide necessary educational support to schools and even to children outside my community to ensure better future for them”. He stated.

He charged the teachers and headmasters to offer best of their ability to improve the performance of the students in their care.

Commenting on the current dispute pending at the law court about the injunction on the completed community center, he appealed to government to hasten on the case to give way to the commissioning of the facility.

The community center built by a native living abroad for the community has received resistance in series of chieftaincy disputes.

Receiving the items, the District Education Director for Kumawu, Mr Paul Antwi Oppong expresses his appreciation to the chief for the kind gesture

According to him, the donation will give new dimensions to teaching and learning in the district.

He further appealed to other individuals and organization to also emulate this gesture to support the education in the district.

He mentioned lack of infrastructure especially furniture’s as major challenges hindering the delivery of quality education in the district.
