In a compelling address that resonated with the essence of responsible citizenship, Dr Ishmael Ackah, the Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC),
passionately urged students to embrace a mindset of judicious utility consumption. He emphasized that the vitality of utility services was interwoven with the well-being of every individual, underscoring the pivotal role efficient usage played in propelling the nation’s socio-economic advancement.
Speaking eloquently at a tariff education forum held at Cape Coast Technical University, Dr. Ackah shed light on the critical need to instigate a cultural shift towards utility-conscious behavior, particularly within the academic community.
He drew attention to the disheartening instances of water wastage and unnecessary energy consumption on campuses, reminding students that these seemingly small actions bore far-reaching consequences for the entire utility ecosystem.
In an impassioned plea, Dr. Ackah cautioned against engaging in illegal utility connections, emphasizing the detrimental impact such actions had on utility companies’ operations.
He unequivocally stated that these actions not only violated the law but also hindered the optimal functioning of utility providers, ultimately compromising service delivery.
