Ferdinand|EducationGhana| November 25| Acting Director-General of the GES meets with School Heads amidst Controversy over his Appointment
The Acting Director-General of Ghana Education Service (GES) Dr. Eric Nkansah met with Regional and District Directors and Heads of Basic and Senior High Schools in the Ashanti and Bono regions at a nationwide forum dubbed ‘Accounting to the Director-General’ on Monday 21st November 2022.
During the forum held at Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, the Heads of Schools shared detailed accounts of their 2021 performance contract, learning outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for improving teaching and learning in schools with the Director-General.
The main objective of the forum was to strengthen accountability in the education sector, ensure that Heads of Schools present facts about their various schools with the management of GES,
and collectively take urgent steps to address issues likely to impede quality education delivery. Again, the meeting allowed the Heads to dialogue and share their best practices with each other.
Dr. Nkansah commended the Heads of the Schools for sharing their experiences and accounts and said,
“This meeting was very fruitful and I am happy to learn what is really happening in every school from you as Heads of Schools. The good news is that your reports will guide us in making decisions to move GES forward.”
The Director-General also encouraged the Heads of Schools to uphold teamwork and diligence in their various schools so as to collectively achieve the mandate of GES.
