  A total of 590,309 BECE candidates have secured placement into SHS and TVET schools in Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year. Learn more about the automatic and self-placement breakdown.  

BECE 2025 Placement Results Released

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that 590,309 candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have successfully secured placement into Senior High Schools (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country.   The announcement was made by the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, during a briefing on the progress of this year’s placement exercise.  

 Breakdown of Placement

According to Dr. Apaak: 483,800 candidates were placed automatically through the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).   An additional 107,000 candidates secured schools via the self-placement module. This brings the total number of successfully placed students to 590,309.  

Implications for SHS/TVET Admissions

The placement exercise ensures that every qualified candidate has access to Free SHS or TVET opportunities, in line with the government’s commitment to expanding equitable access to education. The Deputy Minister assured parents and guardians that all placement resolution centres across the country remain operational to address any challenges.

Self-Placement Support

Students who used the self-placement system were able to select from schools with available vacancies. Authorities have cautioned parents not to travel unnecessarily to Accra since every District and Regional Education Office has designated officers to support placement issues.

  Reporting date for first-year SHS and TVET students: Saturday, October 18, 2025. GES and the Ministry of Education have encouraged parents and guardians to remain calm and supportive as their wards prepare for the next stage of their education. Conclusion

This year’s placement marks another milestone in Ghana’s education reforms, providing access to more than half a million students nationwide. With both automatic and self-placement processes completed, attention now shifts to a smooth transition as schools prepare to welcome their new batch of students.
