The Ministry of Education has confirmed that 590,309 candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have successfully secured placement into Senior High Schools (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country. The announcement was made by the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, during a briefing on the progress of this year’s placement exercise.Breakdown of Placement
According to Dr. Apaak: 483,800 candidates were placed automatically through the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). An additional 107,000 candidates secured schools via the self-placement module. This brings the total number of successfully placed students to 590,309.Implications for SHS/TVET Admissions
The placement exercise ensures that every qualified candidate has access to Free SHS or TVET opportunities, in line with the government’s commitment to expanding equitable access to education. Self-Placement Support
Students who used the self-placement system were able to select from schools with available vacancies.
