EducationGhana| July 12| 2022: Teachers’ Strike Continues after a failed Negotiation with Government on COLA:
Teachers in the Ghana Education Service have announced a continuation of their impending strike action on COLA after a failed Negotiation with the government today, July 12, 2022.
The teacher union leaders walked out of the meeting after realising the government’s posture to hold the Unions hostage by compelling the teacher unions to call off their impending strike action before the negotiation began
This angered the Unions and led to a walkout of the meeting.
Thomas Musah said “I think that what has happened today is very unfortunate. What we can say now is that our negotiation has come inconclusively and we are still on strike”
Presidents of the National Association of Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Angel Carbonou and Thomas Musah respectively, who attended the meeting in Accra, told journalists after stepping out that the government’s representatives were insisting that the unions call off the strike before negotiations start.
