The National Teaching Council (NTC) and INSTILL Education have partnered to launch a nationwide pilot to provide Ghanaian teachers accessible, practical professional development through a digital solution called Upskill@Instill. The launch of the Ghana Pilot Study Report took place at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

The event, which was chaired by renowned educationist and former Vice Chancellor for the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Jophus Anamoah-Mensah had several dignitaries in attendance including the Honourable Deputy Minister for Education, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo, the Registrar of the National Teaching Council, Dr. Christian Addai-Poku, the Country Lead for Mastercard Foundation, the Chief Executive Officer of Instill Education, Alim Ladha, teachers among other key dignitaries.

In his address, Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC), Dr. Christian Addai-Poku expressed gratitude to Instill Education and Mastercard Foundation for their immense support for teachers to improve their capacity and professionalism.

He noted that through the collaboration between NTC and Instill Education, 5,500 teachers were taken through the piloted training in the area of instructional and pedagogical skills in 10 modules.

“NTC through its professional development programmes and digital solutions has trained over 80,000 teachers online. A strong partnership has been established with Commonwealth of Learning, UNESCO, UNICEF, Ghana Education Service, World Reader and SteadyX” Dr Addai-Poku added.

The National Teaching Council and Instill Education also used the launch to formally introduce the Upskill@Instill platform and its accompanying programmes to the Ghanaian education community.

The stakeholder event highlighted the collaborative work that has taken place over the period between NTC and Instill Education and its influence on teachers’ instructional practices.

The event also presented the opportunity to deepen partnerships and collaborations with the Ministry of Education and its agencies, Teacher Unions, the Private Sector, Development Partners, NGOs, Civil Society Organizations and the media to rally behind the Ministry of Education as they build synergies towards improved learning outcomes in Ghanaian learners.
