EducationGhana| July 22| 2022: No end of Term Exams for Basic 1 to JHS 2 Students-GES
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said that there shall be no end-of-term exams for students at the Basic level for the second term of the 2021/22 Academic year.
The Central Regional Directorate of Education indicated to teachers in a memo. According to the Directorate, it has been observed that most schools do not conduct regular weekly class tests to assess pupils’ performances.
The directorate elaborated, that most schools wait until the end of the term to conduct a one-shot end-of-term examination with its attendant cost, not parents.
The directorate, therefore, directs that;
- Regular Class Tests, assignments, class exercises, homework, project work etc be conducted to assess pupils’ performance.
- For Basic 1 to JHS 2, the printing of end of term examination should be done only at the end of the year. There should be mo printing this second term.
- Mock examinations for JHS 3 pupils are allowed to continue.
