2020 NPP Manifesto: Discussions ongoing for the distribution of tablets to JHS and SHS students

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said that there is an ongoing discussion for the distribution of tablets to JHS and SHS students.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) made this revelation in its 2020 Manifesto.

The NPP said the purpose of the distribution of tablets to JHS and SHS students iis to improve Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities in Schools.

The Party said, it was prudent to distribute tablets to the students to improve the Curriculum for ICT.

Libraries

The New Patriotic Party said, the government has expanded the network of libraries from 61 to 72 as at March 2020, and have renovated over 50% of the existing libraries.

The party added, that it has also rolled out a digital platform for accessing library content.

”Under an ongoing programme, we have expanded the network of libraries from 61 to 72 as at March 2020, and have renovated over 50% of the existing libraries. We have also rolled out a digital platform for accessing library content” The Manifesto indicated.

The teaching of French Language

According to the NPP, to popularise the teaching of French and improve the delivery of the subject, 22 Bilingual Schools have been established, 6 Colleges of Education equipped with French Labs & Resource Centres, 54 SHSs equipped with French Language Resource Centres, and Primary 4-6 French Language Curriculum has been developed.

Inclusive Education

The NPP government said government has provided facilities to enable disabled children to be integrated within regular schools wherever possible.

The party added, that inclusive Education Policy has been adopted, and teacher training curricula covers inclusive education.

The teaching of Arabic In Schools

The Manifesto said the NPP Government has Introduce Arabic as an optional language to be taught and examined at the JHS and SHS levels.

This, according to the party, has been included in the ongoing JHS and SHS Curriculum review which when completed, Arabic will be introduced as an optional subject.
